It was a huge relief finally to launch the new Dragonfly 40 Performance Cruiser and get it rigged up for its maiden voyage. The boat has been under development for more than two years, and thousands of man-hours have been spent on this project.
The boat meets the expectations in full – and they were quite high. The four standard electric winches provide incredibly easy handling – even single-handed. The boat balances superbly on the helm and can easily be controlled with one hand – it responds promptly.
The carbon fibre rig and the large sail area provide incredible power that allows the boat to sail 18.5 knots at 18 knots true wind. With its high stability and quiet motion on the water, it feels like cruising a big boat, just as the huge cockpit and the large trampolines provide plenty of comfort on deck.
Under deck, the boat is elegantly equipped with modern materials, and, with impressive light from both the large cabin windows and the many skylights.
