The 2024 ILCA Master European Championships wrapped up today in Vilamoura, Portugal, after five days of competition.
The day began with a long postponement on shore due to a lack of wind. It was surprising because we were expecting stormy weather, but instead, we had sunshine and no breeze in the morning.
It wasn’t until around 13:00 that the conditions outside were suitable to set the courses and attempt some racing. The Race Committee raised the Delta flag at 13:15, signaling all ILCA 6 sailors to launch their boats and head to the Bravo course.
Thirty minutes later, the ILCA 7 fleets were also allowed to go on the water to race in the Alpha course.
The sailing conditions for the final races included 6 to 8 knots of wind and swell.
As a result, the 2024 ILCA Master European Championships in Portugal concluded with four races for all the fleets, except for the ILCA 7 GM and GGM fleets, which completed three races.
Congratulations to all participants, and especially to the sailors who were crowned as the new 2024 ILCA Master European medalists;
