Setting sail for the 50th Sydney International Boat Show

Those with an interest in sailing will be keen to visit this year’s Sydney International Boat Show. With research showing that 30% of visitors to the event have an interest in the sector, exhibitors will be on hand with a vast array of products and services to meet many a need.

Whilst the gear for their boating is high on the agenda, for many keen sailors it’s the vessels and the opportunity to see them that makes the show special.

This year’s show is proving to be another haven of dreams for many, with the best of the best scheduled to be on display.

On the marina, visitors can start small with a Bluewater Signet 20. Depending on how big your dreams, venture around until you see the CNB76. Magnificent vessels at both ends of the scale.

In between is an array of masterpieces, enough to have anyone frothing at the bit. Brands include names such as Hanse, Dufour, Jeanneau, Bavaria, Elan, Dehler, Beneteau, X-Yachts, Bluewater and AMEL. For those with passion for cats will see Leopard, Seawind, Fountaine Pajot, Bavaria and Lagoon.

Within the halls, Hobie will have a variety of vessels for off the beach family fun. Also look out for the Wild Ocean stand with a fabulous foiling rig.

With electronics, clothing, chandlery and a host of other sailing gear, almost a third of exhibitors have said they have something for the sailing fraternity.

The Sydney International Boat Show will celebrate its 50th year. To coincide with this, it will return fully to Darling Harbour with the event taking up all exhibition space at the new, purpose-built International Convention Centre-Sydney (ICC).

And with late breaking news, show organisers are currently working with the Lisa Blair camp to try and have her at the show. Having set a record for sailing around Antarctica solo, non-stop and unassisted, Lisa’s journey has been one of challenges. Lisa is fighting the elements to get back and will likely land in Albany on around 22 or 23 July.  Lisa says, “Even with the dismasting, just by finishing this trip I still will receive the world record for being the first women to sail solo around Antarctica.”

Boating Safety is at the core of the organisers’ charter, so again the show welcomes Transport for NSW as the shows Partner in Safety. Situated on the upper level near the entry door, the Boating Safety Zone will be a hub of information for anyone who considers boating a part of their life. The Boating Safety zone is a must visit location to get the latest information on how to make your time of the water with family and friends better.

The show is scheduled for 5 days, 3 to 7 August.

Halls will open from 10am to 8pm, while the specially installed Marina will open from 10am up until 7pm. Tickets are now available online.

Visitors wanting more information should visit the website www.sydneyboatshow.com.au or call the recorded hotline on 1300 7 BOATS (26887).
