Jeanneau dominate in the Commodores Cup at Sail Port Stephens

A fleet of Jeanneau yachts is a regular feature at Sail Port Stephens with 2016 being no exception.

This year the fleets sailing adventure started off with over thirty yachts enjoying a relaxing sail up the coast to Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club for the annual NSW Jeanneau Rendezvous hosted by local dealer Performance Boating Sales.

The NSW Jeanneau Rendezvous is one of the most popular events held by Performance Boating. Regularly attracting over fifty yachts, the annual event is held in a different location each year so participants can experience cruising locations and learn from a variety of sailing conditions.

“It really is all about fun and enjoying your yacht, but we like to also make it a relaxed learning experience for our owners and their crew as well.” said Lee Condell, owner of Performance Boating.

Condell was very impressed with Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club saying “The fleet set sail from Sydney Harbour and met up with more yachts just off Pittwater. Arriving at Newcastle the club was ready for us with marina staff on standby to make life easier before we headed off for a great night’s entertainment.”

After Saturday night in Newcastle, some of the fleet headed home whilst others continued up the coast to participate in Sail Port Stephens. Led by the ‘entertainment director’ Peter Lewis on his Jeanneau Sun Fast 37 Lu Lu Belle, Jeanneau dominated division two coming 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th.

Lewis is one of what Sail Port Stephens call their ‘lifers’ as they have been to every event and he is more than happy to help other owners out with advice on how to enjoy their sailing… The team from Performance Boating were also on hand throughout the Cup to assist with the more practical side of getting the yachts around the racecourse in a range of conditions.

Individual Jeanneau trophies were also awarded by Performance Boating for both spinnaker and non-spinnaker within division two:

Spinnaker:

1st – Lu Lu Belle – Peter Lewis
2nd – Macscap – Peter McClelland
3rd – Passion – David Edminston

Non-Spinnaker:

1st – Minnow – Les Pongrass
2nd – Nightingail – Ben Spannenberg
3rd – Bells Breeze – Julian Bell

A range of Jeanneau yachts will be on display at the Sydney International Boat Show this year including the new Jeanneau 54. Jeanneau dealers encourage existing owners to visit them at the show and to join the Jeanneau owners association. “If you don’t own a Jeanneau yet, we’ll be sure to help you out!” they add.
