According to importers Multihull Central, this new lightweight version of the Seawind 1160 has proven a hit, with 10 boats ordered and delivered or being built.
With 20hp outboard motors, light furniture and new stylish design, plus added features such as a carbon reinforced forward beam, and fibreglass roof over the cockpit, the importers say the LITE is “a great sailing and cruising cat for those wanting a larger style cat on a budget”. A $30,000 discount is being offered for boats purchased at the boat show (subject to currency fluctuations).
Seawind's flagship, the Seawind 1250 will also be on display. Multihull Central says, “With a classic interior design featuring beautiful timbers and high quality fittings, the 1250 reflects the quality workmanship that goes into the Seawind range.
“With owners cruising Australia, the Pacific and Asia, this design is purpose-built for cruising our region and designed by Australians. A massive $60,000 discount is being offered for boats purchased at the boat show (subject to currency fluctuations).”
Multihull Central says both designs strictly follow Seawind's seven principles behind the 'perfect Pacific cruiser'.
Sail like a sailboat. Seawind's hulls are narrow, allowing them to sail faster which cuts down passage time.
Engineered to endure. The reserve buoyancy allows the boats to be pushed down big waves safely. They are a stiff monocoque structure, and use Vinyl Ester resins exclusively through the hulls to prevent osmosis.
Anyone can sail. The Seawind's are optimised for one or two people to cruise in comfort and safety, with all controls back to the cockpit.
Weather protected helm. Its difficult to get wet on the helm of a Seawind. With twin helms located behind a major bulkhead, you are protected from the wind, rain and sun.
Indoor-outdoor living. The open plan living of a Seawind provides options for an open cockpit, or to add in a removable, fold-away table and chairs. This means you also end up with great space.
Natural Ventilation. Massive opening forward windows, many hatches and cross flow ventilation naturally cool the interior spaces. There is no need for expensive and heavy air-conditioning and generators to power them.
Don't waste space. The interior design allows optimised space in the saloon and the galley, providing more space than you would expect for their size. The galley is akin to a butler's kitchen that compliments the centrally located BBQ in the cockpit, allowing dirty plates and dishes to be kept out of the way.
