Hugo Boss breaks Barcelona-Gibraltar record as World Race fleet hits the Atlantic

Alex Thomson (GBR) and Pepe Ribes (ESP) on Hugo Boss have passed Gibraltar, crossing the Longitude 5°37W at 18H50 (CET). They have set a new record time for the Barcelona to Gibraltar course of 538 nautical miles of 2 days, 5 hours, 50 minutes.

Hugo Boss is the former Virbac-Paprec 3, a VPLP/Verdier IMOCA design launched in 2010, and the boat which set the previous Barcelona-Gibraltar record time, skippered by Jean-Pierre Dick (FRA) and Loick Peyron (FRA) in the 2010-2011 Barcelona World Race at 3 days, 7 hours, 55 minutes.
