Yvonne Catamaran’s 59th Australian titles Goes To Marcus and Sophie Towell

The Yvonne catamaran was designed by Charles and Lindsay Cunning back in 1954   and held their first Australian Title in 1957 and have had 59 titles since then including this one. The main rivalry over time has been between the Western and South Australian cats with the extremely variable conditions of Victor Harbour seeing the early races dominated by the Western Australian boats led by “Bullet proof “Glen Randall and Jason White).

While “Natural Born Killer” By South Australia’s Marcus and Sophie Towell won the next 4 heats some just by a margin of seconds to win the title. Although the last race was abandoned due to dangerous winds the results were still in doubt until then making the violent wind change very exciting with all thinking of what might have been..  Next year the 60th title will be held at Rockingham WA and is certain to attract a big entry.
