29th April 2015 – Seve Jarvin and his GAC Pindar crew are heading to Qingdao, China with high expectations for Act 3 of the 2015 Extreme Sailing Series (30 April – 03 May). Seve will be the Skipper alongside an all-Aussie crew joined by Tyson Lamond (Bowman), Marcus Ashley-Jones (Headsail Trimmer), James Wierzbowski (Mainsail Trimmer) and Jack Macartney (Tactician).
Jarvin comments: “Ahead of Act 3 in China we have been preparing our strategy and I know from previous experience that the conditions can be tricky in Fushan Bay. This will be the second regatta with this crew set up and we have since Act 2 in Oman, been focusing on how to improve as a team. The weather conditions will be a challenge but I feel confident that we will climb the leaderboard.”
It is the fifth year in the Extreme Sailing Series’ history that the fleet will battle it out in Qingdao. The city is known as China’s “Olympic Sailing City”, a beautiful seaside city located on the southeast part of the Shandong Province.
The action will take place once again in Fushan Bay, where the wind conditions can be anything from light winds to 15+ knots. The international sailing centre, built for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, gives the perfect sailing surroundings for the fast and spectacular 40ft catamarans.
GAC’s Group Marketing Director, Sean Bradley comments: “The team is still finding its rhythm, but they are working hard. We have seen a good improvement already with two sixth place finishes. We are hoping for a top five finish in China and I know that the team will do their best”.
Racing begins Thursday 30th April at 14.00pm GMT + 08:00 hour.
