Whitsunday Sailing Club has announced the 26th annual Airlie Beach Race Week will be held from 7-14 August 2015.
Following the success of the 25th anniversary event in August which saw a record number of entries, the club says there is already anticipation building for race week 2015.
Whitsunday Sailing Club Commodore Jim Hayes has contributed this excitement to the success of the silver anniversary event this year which had a great combination of sailing and socialising in the Whitsundays.
“The format of the regatta allows crews to have a great time on and off the water,” Mr Hayes said.
“The event has a reputation in the sailing fraternity for great racing and friendly informality, and the Whitsundays is the perfect venue for Australia’s tropical shirt regatta,” he said.
The Whitsunday Sailing Club has confirmed the 2015 Airlie Beach Race Week will feature all the elements which make the regatta unique.
“The racing takes competitors around the most beautiful islands in the Whitsundays and this is followed by great parties onshore each day in Airlie Beach.”
Combined with almost perfect weather in August, Mr Hayes says everyone is invited to take part in race week 2015.
“Airlie Beach Race Week is certainly a bucket-list regatta.”
Airlie Beach Race Week is supported by the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland as part of a dynamic calendar of events throughout the state.
