In the Volvo Ocean Race Boatyard, shore crews are going through the final checks and putting the finishing touches to the 7 new one-design boats.
In the 1200m2 facility, specifically built for the Volvo Ocean Race fleet, the teams are racing against the clock to complete their check-ups and repairs – which must be made before the Alicante In-Port Race on October 4th. That leaves just 12 days to ready to boats for an epic, round the world adventure.
The new Volvo Ocean 65 has been designed, engineered and built to be a high-performing and competitive race machine. All 7 boats are the same – and are built to a single, tightly controlled set of plans by internationally-renowned engineers.
One-design is a new concept, introduced for the first time this edition, and ensures that the 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race will be won and lost by the athletes, out on the water. All indications point to this being the most exciting, hard-fought race in history!
