Garmin releases details of latest marine product line up

Due to be available in Australia from Q2 next year, this is a preview of some of Garmin’s 2015 marine product range.

echoMAP dv/sv: available in 10.2cm (4”), 12.7cm (5”), 17.8cm (7”) and 22.9cm (9”) sizes, these sonar/chartplotter units feature built-in advanced HD-ID and DownVü scanning sonar (all models), while the two larger models also have built-in SideVü scanning sonar.

Preloaded with BlueChart g2 coastal charts, the manufacturer claims these have the most accurate GPS for their class: a 5Hz GPS/GLONASS to update vessel position five times per second.

GPSMAP xsv: incorporating sonar capabilities, including 1kW true dual CHIRP sonar and DownVü and SideVü scanning sonar with CHIRP technology – this sonar/chartplotter series is available in 17.8cm (7”), 20.3cm (8”), 25.4cm (10”) and 30.5cm (12”) display sizes with multi-touch screen control.

Preloaded with BlueChart g2 coastal charts, the 10Hz GPS/GLONASS updates vessel position 10 times every second. The GPSMAP xsv series is also fully networkable for additional component support such as radar, autopilot, video, cameras, media, digital switching, GRID and more. The units also feature built-in Wi-Fi connectivity for use with Garmin apps.

GSD  25 premium sonar module: combining dual-channel 1kW CHIRP, plus DownVü and SideVü scanning sonar with CHIRP technology, the GSD 25 is a remote network solution that provides fishfinding and bottom tracking capabilities. Delivering clear and precise detail, it’s possible to distinguish between baitfish and closely-spaced target fish to depths in excess of 1500m (5000ft). Designed for use with Garmin’s GPSMAP 8000 series and new GPSMAP 7400/7600 series.

Garmin scanning transducers: designed for use with the new echoMAP and GPSMAP series, Garmin’s new scanning transducers provide all-in-one solutions, so a single transducer performs multiple functions. Available in transom mount, thru-hull and thru-hull pair options.

GMR xHD2 open array radars: these high-definition open-array radars deliver a sensitivity, consistent target positions and high reliability. New settings include Bird Mode (to find birds on the surface / working fish), while Echo Trails help identify moving targets. Garmin’s quietest and most powerful radars ever, these dual-range radars are very easy to install and start using. Available in 4kW, 6kW and 12kW in 1.2m (4ft) or 1.8m (6ft) antenna options.

GHP Reactor autopilot: the most responsive autopilot system for powerboats and sailboats Garmin has ever offered. Advanced 9-axis AHRS solid-state gyro technology allows it to be mounted nearly anywhere, in any orientation, with minimal commissioning. This system also greatly minimises heading error, course deviation, rudder movement, and power consumption, while providing a more comfortable ride for all onboard.
