A date with Tom Slingsby has socialites bidding furiously

Picture the scene: 150 of the most glamorous and wealthiest women in Sydney converging on Rose Bay's Catalina for the ultimate “ladies' lunch”.

The drama started during the charity auction after MC Karl Stefanovic revved up the ladies with the prospect of a “stud” auction. There was one woman determined to do a bit of shopping from her table: Angela Fleming.

“Darling, it's all for a good cause,” the exotic beauty told PS after spending $62,000 on everything from a Louis Vuitton handbag to the unspecified services of a good-looking yachtie who happens to be ranked among the world's best, the very single Tom Slingsby.

Indeed it was the Slingsby auction during which Fleming stared down – with her tongue firmly planted in her cheek – three generations of Packer women: matriarch Ros – on a walking stick having recently undergone knee surgery but determined to support the cause, daughter Gretel and granddaughter Francesca.
