Owing to light winds forecast for Saturday, the SailGP Bermuda practice race will become Day One of the event, which has led to changes in the broadcast schedule.
We received this information from the Australian SailGP team:
In light of the light wind weather forecast, which would severely impact the standard of racing, the decision has been made to push the racing forward from Saturday 24th April, to Friday 23rd of April in Bermuda.
This means the first race day will now take place on Saturday 25th 3-5am in Australia (AEDT).
Due to our global broadcast agreements, racing on Saturday will be pre-recorded and broadcast at SailGP’s allotted broadcast time on Sunday – which is 3am AEDT time on Fox Sports and Kayo. Broadcast restrictions in these territories mean that SailGP cannot show the live racing on Saturday so viewers should tune into the broadcast at the designated time on Sunday to catch the action.
SailGP will not be publishing any race results or race content from Saturday across its channels.
To allow Australian viewers to watch the races “as live”, Mysailing will not post race reports about Friday’s races until Sunday morning at 9am, when fans will have had the chance to watch the telecast.
