Rollerson struggling at Mark Foy 18 ft skiffs

During the first race, after a general recall, two favourites of the regatta, Asko and Macquarie went over the starting line and were declared OCS. Australian Grant Rollerson on Slam once again made his presence felt and left his mark on this competition. Behind, the competitors led by Greenhalgh (Benny) and Barnabas (24HrRoad), realised once again that it will be hard to deprive Slam of a victory during this Mark Foy Trophy – unless there is a new development.
But as always in sailing, surprises come quick… And even more in 18 foot skiffs, where the slightest technical mistake is immediately sanctioned by a capsizing. During the start under black flag for the second race of the day and with a 16 to 18 knots wind, Slam collided with two other boats, including John Winning's Yandoo, and gave up this race. With an OCS and a DNF, he will need three other races to be run to be sure to win this event. In these selective conditions, Rob Greenhalgh has shown his talent and imposed himself decisively. At the end of the day he was leading this competition in front of Dan Wilson (Asko) and Howie Hamlin.
