SP, the marine business of Gurit, has today launched ‘Corecell™ M-Foam’

The new CorecellTM M-Foam is the only core to offer a complete cost-effective package comprising high shear strength, low weight and high elongation, low resin uptake for infusion processes and high temperature stability for prepreg processes. CorecellTM M-Foam is the performance leader for all marine applications, whether slamming area or superstructure, hull or deck, using hand lamination, infusion or prepreg.

This new core product offers a unique combination of properties through enhancing the qualities in all CorecellTM products such as chemical resistance, built-in toughness, fine cell size and unique ‘knife-cuts' (which ensure resin absorption is very low, saving both weight and cost). Furthermore M-Foam is tough and easy to machine, offers superior uniformity through lower density variation and is compatible with polyester, vinylester and epoxy resin systems.

CorecellTM M-Foam is available in a wide range of thicknesses, multiple resin infusion formats and in four grades – M60, M80, M100, and M130.

Graham Harvey, Business Manager Marine, says: “CorecellTM M-Foam is the product that our customers have been asking for. It is the first foam to deliver the full package and will be invaluable for boat yards, boat builders, designers and engineers alike. Whether the concern is the lightest structure, highest toughness, compatibility with prepreg or better print-through resistance, SP believes that M-Foam's unique combination of benefits is what the marine market has been missing”.

SP is available to provide further information, samples and support and, if required, demonstrate the benefits that the new CorecellTM M-Foam can bring to future builds.
