Defending World Champion Tom Slingsby is in 12th position after three days of racing at the 2009 Laser World Championship in Halifax, Canada.
The Australian Sailing Team athlete has had mixed results after the opening five races, with a seventh, first and black flag, followed by a third and twelfth to leave him 17 points behind regatta leader Nick Thompson of Great Britain.
The Australian Sailing Development Squad's Ashley Brunning is leading the way for the Australian sailors in Halifax and is currently in sixth place.
Brunning claimed victory in race four and followed it up with a fourth in the day's final race to be just 12 points behind the leader.
James Burman is the next best Australian in 43rd, ahead of Ryan Hannan in 79th and Tom Burton in 93rd.
Todd Hughes is sitting in 99th, with Ben Gunther in 129th, Sean Bly in 131st and Ashley Lloyd in 156th.
Day four will be a lay day in Canada with Hurricane Bill forecast to brush the Nova Scotia coast with three metre surges and winds in excess of 50 knots expected.
