Tomorrow could be more of the same for sailors enjoying the lay day at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. In an exclusive interview with mysailing.com.au, race director Denis Thompson said that unless the wind exceeded tomorrow's forecast, he would hold the boats in the marina.
Frustrated by an extraordinary lack of wind for this time of the year, Denis said there was no point in sending the boats out to the start line only to delay the gun.
“Unless we get something they can sail in, I'll hold them here until the wind comes in later in the day”, he said.
Meanwhile, the streets of the Hamilton Island village are very quiet as sailors try their hands at golf on the newly-opened golf course, driving of a different kind in the Audi Driving Challenge at the airport or indulge in one of the two long lunches taking place on the island.
