Simrad’s AP25 autopilot
Simrad’s AP25 series autopilot is the flagship model of the company’s onboard information centre range. As well as keeping a vessel on course, the award-winning unit’s 125mm high-resolution matrix LCD screen presents a wealth of information from the GPS, sounder, windvane and other onboard instruments. The use of graphics enhances the presentation in clear and easy-to-read pages, while dedicated mode keys and well-arranged menus ensure user-friendly operation.
Among the features is Simrad’s exclusive Virtual Rudder Feedback (VRF), which makes rudder feedback units redundant. Autopilots with VRF will steer boats up to 12m (40ft), whether they’re powered by single, dual or triple outboards, or by stern drives. The autopilot is automatically configured for VRF when it senses no feedback unit has been installed. As a bonus, this saves installation and maintenance costs.
The AP25’s NoDrift mode eliminates the need to calculate for offsetting currents and wind with the GPS on.
A full range of remote control auxiliary equipment is also available for the AP25, allowing power steering from any location on the vessel ‘ handheld or fixed mount, using buttons or a lever. Remote course change and full follow-up control is also available.
