F18 World Championship – Day 3 delivers

Florida, USA: After two days of waiting for wind, participants were happily tired from three action-filled races in winds that increased during the day on Day 3 of the F18 World Championship, hosted by the Clearwater Beach Yacht Club.

There were three different first-place finishers, a reflection of the high quality of racing in the 60+ boat fleet. The USA team of Taylor Reiss and Walter Lauridsen took race one in the lightest breeze of the day.

USA’s Ravi Parent, the winner of the recent F18 European Championship, and Severin Gramm took race 2. Argentina’s Cruz Gonzalez Smith and Mariano Heuser won the day’s last race. Parent and Gramm sit in first tonight with 9 points, while the Greek team of Iordanis Paschalidis and Konstantinos Trigkonis are a close second with 12 points.

There are three teams tied provisionally for third with 16 points, Argentinas’ Cruz Gonzalez Smith and Mariano Heuser, Australia’s Gavin Colby and Kai Colman, and Spain’s Toni Rivas Mas and Jordi Sanchez Perez.

It’s an early day tomorrow for Day 4, with the first warning signal for 10 AM ET.
