Building female sailing in Oceania via Ilca4 pathway.
ILCA Oceania (formerly Oceania Laser Class Association) Announce ‘Solidarity’ a program to assist young women into competive sailing.
Building on the successful launch of the Australian model in 2023, ILCA Oceania are expanding the program to cover NZ & the Pacific Island nations. Ten young women from the region will have the opportunity to be coached & compete at a world class championship.
Young female sailors, three from Pacific Island nations, one from NZ & one from each of the six Australian states will be selected to compete in the 2024 Oceania & Australian championships in Adelaide.
The sailors, selected by their local ILCA district, will be given free entry to this 6-day event. They will have the use of a free charter boat & a qualified ILCA coach will assist them for the duration of the regatta. Team clothing & merchandise will be supplied by the sponsor. ILCA sailing is an Olympic sport for young women. It opens the opportunity for travel & friendships. Sailors who choose the ILCA class can access support from their local ILCA district & compete in championships around the world.
