Aussie Team excel in the Cadet World Champs in Plymouth

A team of 10 Australian Cadets have just completed the latest Cadet World Championships in Plymouth, UK with a comprehensive overall team result. 6 boats in the top 10 (including 1st) and 8 in the top 20 from a 65 boat fleet.! A fantastic TEAM result.

Leo Church and Ross Tolcher – 35th

Arjay Layton and Matthew Cross- 33rd

Martha Read and Charlotte Kratz – 19th

Will Farnell and Louis Davis – 15th

Cate McCoy and Will Garner – 10th

Issi Wilcox and George Shugg – 8th

Isaac Archer and Flynn Clougher – 6th – This young crew is one to watch, Isaac the skipper is only 13 years old and won the trophy for the best under 15 helm person

Charlie Birch and Archie McQuillen – 5th

Sam Hooper and Thomas Pitt – 3rd

Josh Garner and Jack Benyan 1st- World Champions. Their coach Tony Bull reported on these Champions – “Well, where do you start? A sublime regatta. Winner of the Australian Championship, top scoring boat on UK Nationals and were tested by the Ukrainian crew of Uliana Postrelko and David Guttiiev (plaudits to them too). They came out and smashed the last race, blowing everyone away and putting the result beyond doubt! As the family Rhib headed out to the last race, they were greeted by a seal swimming alongside. Jack’s dad Dave mentioned that the appearance of a seal in the surfing fraternity is regarded as being joined by a departed soul, and we all know who that was! Grandfather John would have been very proud!:
