The CYCA’s Safety of Life at Sea Trusts (SOLAS) was set up as a charitable trust in 1999 as a result of the tragic events of the 1998 Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. It has donated more than $1,760,000 since that time. The CYCA SOLAS Trusts’ objectives are to provide assistance (financial and other) to immediate families of those lost at sea during Australian Sailing Federation sanctioned races; to make donations and provide support to search and rescue organisation; and to foster and fund research and training to improve safety and rescue procedures and equipment used in ocean races.
Please note, the boat owner has the final approval that the guest may be on board for the race. In the event of a denial the winning bidder will be refunded. The winning bidder will be required to sign a disclaimer available from the Organising Authority.
