Alinghi Red Bull Racing withdraws from America’s Cup

As planning begins for the 38th America’s Cup, expected in 2027, a second major challenger is stepping aside.

Alinghi Red Bull Racing has confirmed they will not compete in the next cycle and have started an “orderly wind-down” of their campaign. This follows on from the recent announcement that Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS Britannia will also not be competing in AC38.

The announcement cited they were unable to reach an agreement with the Defender regarding the event’s future and that they had hoped for more accountability, transparency, and opportunities to perform as a team.

Meanwhile, Cup followers are getting ready to finally find out where the next Cup will be held. All we know so far is that it won’t be Auckland.
