New Zealand is this morning welcoming news that Australia's last-gasp bid to host the America's Cup qualifying event has fallen over.
The Daily Telegraph reports that a decision to delay Sydney's formal entry by two months has prompted America's Cup organisers to give Auckland rights to host what used by be known as the Louis Vuitton Cup.
Seven America's Cup syndicates could be based in Auckland for at least two months leading up to the race series in February 2017. The event is set to be televised by giant American broadcaster NBC.
