ATL celebrate 35 years 1980 to 2015

2015 marks ATL Composites 35th anniversary as a formulator of high performance epoxy resins and supplier of advanced structural materials to the Australian and Asian composites industries.

Initially established in New Zealand in 1977 by Arnie Duckworth and Chris Timms to manufacture West System epoxy products for the Asia Pacific region under license to Gougeon Brothers USA, ATL Composites expanded by opening a second facility in Sydney in 1980 to service the Australian professional and amateur boatbuilding market.

Today with a manufacturing facility in Queensland, ATL Composites holds a strong and successful position as an epoxy formulator and continues to be a leading supplier to the high performance yachting market. Years of practical experience and knowledge in the performance of composite materials has seen it diversify into other industries with a demand for lighter, stronger, stiffer, durable structures.

Composite materials and engineering services are being provided for the manufacture of commercial ferries, road and rail transportation, industrial and architectural applications, resulting in improved performance and reduced production time. Specifically formulated liquid and filled epoxy systems are now supplied into the specialised fields of industrial tooling, electrical encapsulation, mining and automotive applications: epoxy resins, structural cores, composite panels, plug and pattern surfacing, reinforcements, structural engineering.

In addition to its epoxy range, ATL Composites manufactures and distributes for some of the world’s leading composite suppliers. DIAB Group: divinycell structural foam and ProBalsa end grain balsa; Gougeon Brothers West System epoxy; Hawkeye Industries: Duratec mould surfacing technology; and Airtech International: vacuum bagging and infusion consumables.

As a boutique Australian owned and operated company with its experienced technical team, ATL works on an inherent flexibility and client commitment. It has enjoyed steady expansion in Australia and overseas resulting in a strong distribution network throughout Asia.

Looking forward to the future and another 35 years.
