Aussie girls in 2nd and 3rd at Laser Radial Worlds in Karatsu

Day 5 at the Youth Laser Radial World Championships was another windy day with breezes ranging from 15 to 20 knots which again suited the Australians Ashley Stoddard and Alex South who are both having great regattas and a battle with French women Mathilde de Kerangat for top spot. After day 5 only four points seperate Stoddard from the top spot with South a further eight points in third. Today is going to be an interesting day out on the water with strong winds again forecast. Stoddard will be left to do all the attacking on the last day of racing.

In the boys the strong breezes resulted in better results for the Australians in both gold and silver fleets with Christopher Jones, who has been suffering from eye redness for most of the regatta, having two top ten finishes with a 9 and 4 giving him a great chance of a top 5 finish for the 17 year old Tasmanian. The big Western Australian Ki-raphael Sulkowski also improved his chances of a top 20 finish with a 23 and 11 and Elliott Noye improved on his 39 position at the start of the day with a 36 and 19. In the Silver fleet Tasmania`s Rohan Langford and Angus Barton both had top 10 finishes along with young Sydney sailor Jo McMillan.
