BIA asks yachties to fill in survey for South Australia

The CEO of the Boating Industry Association (BIA) is inviting boating industry, yachties, boaters and other stakeholders to complete a survey that will inform the South Australian Boating Strategic Plan to boost boating participation and guide investment in maritime infrastructure across South Australia.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) is leading the project and has engaged the BIA to assist in developing the Plan and engaging with stakeholders. The Plan will extend across the State’s four key boating regions; namely the Central, Western, South East and Murray Regions.

Working closely with councils to identify what is needed to improve boating over the next five years, BIA CEO Howard Glenn said that, local knowledge and user information is a vital aspect this new approach to funding boating in the State.

“We need to hear from people who have an interest in local waterways, or have new and innovative ideas about boating facilities, events, destinations and safety. We invite all stakeholders to contribute to the plans by completing our short survey or contacting the project delivery team,” Mr Glenn said.

The Plan will make it easier for councils and other potential project partners to get boating facility funds for eligible projects and reduce red-tape.

The survey is open until 9 December 2016. For more information about the project and to complete the online survey, visit the BIA website at: www.bia.org.au. Feedback is also invited via email at saboating@bia.org.au or by phoning 1800 810 680 (free call).
