British syndicate takes delivery of second boat

Britain’s America’s Cup syndicate has taken delivery of its new America’s Cup boat ahead of shipping it to New Zealand.

Teams are allowed two boats and the second generation boats will be sailed at Auckland 2021 with INEOS Team UK looking for major advancements after questions were raised about their original design.

They produced a flat-bottomed scow design for their first effort and quickly moved to modify that by attaching a “bustle” to the bottom of the hull, bringing it more in line with the designs of defenders Emirates Team New Zealand and challenger of record Luna Rossa from Italy, who were involved in developing the class rule for the radical 75-foot foiling monohulls.

A radical change is expected when Sir Ben Ainslie’s second boat is finally revealed.
