Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association prepares to host inaugural scavenger hunt

TAMARA HOWIE, NT News

POLISH off the wheels and throw on the detective outfits – the inaugural Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association scavenger hunt is here.

DBCYA general manager Wendy McCallum said it was a great way to get out for the arvo and see the town while raising cash for the NT volunteer coast guard.

“It’s really just about grabbing your mates or family and enjoying the afternoon by going for a drive and checking out some of Darwin historic sites before heading back to the clubhouse for a BBQ with some live music,” she said.

The only requirement is that teams have four wheels, but there are bonus points if entrants dress up.

“It’s not a race at all and should take about an hour and a half, maybe two hours to complete,” Ms McCallum said. “If we find we have more than one team with all the correct answers then we’ll do a play off for the winner.”

Registrations are $40 for each vehicle and are open for the event on April 8.

“A hundred per cent goes towards the coast guard,” Ms McCallum said.
