Discovery Yachts has launched a smaller version of their 55 footer, the new D48 which has a choice of two and three cabin layouts, with single or twin wheels and a large cockpit.
The 48 will retain the practical raised saloon and navigation area, the fast passage making hull and the bespoke British craftsmanship of its big sister. Discovery Yachts say the 48 has been specifically designed for “safe and easy short-handed sailing together with the luxury of home-from-home, onboard living”.
There are two variants of the new model. The Ocean version offers single wheel steering in a large centre cockpit, and two luxury ensuite cabins. The Riviera version has been designed with twin wheels, a huge open cockpit and three double cabins, two aft and an owner’s cabin forward. Both yachts will feature a fold-down bathing platform, the Discovery twin-headsails and the raised saloon and internal navigation station.
The designs for both versions of the new Discovery 48 will be available to view at the Southampton Boat Show, 11th-20th September 2015.
