The Sunshine Coast Yacht Club, based at the Mooloolaba Marina Precinct, is proud to again host the Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta (SCOR). This year SCOR will be run over the weekend of 18th and 19th July.
SCOR was run from 1970’s until the 1990’s with up to 60 yachts from Melbourne, Sydney and SE Queensland entered. The race was reintroduced by the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club in 2014 and is growing in entries and reputation. SCOR 2019 attracted 16 yachts and 100 skippers and crew from Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne and Mooloolaba..
This year a feeder race to SCOR, the Brisbane to Sunshine Coast (B2SC) yacht race will be run in conjunction with the Queensland Cruising Yacht Club. B2SC will finish at Mooloolaba on Friday 17th July so entrants may compete in SCOR over the weekend of 18, 19 July. Visiting sailors and supporters from Victoria, NSW, Brisbane and the Gold Coast will be able to enjoy the magnificent sailing available on the sparkling waters of the Sunshine Coast and the beautiful marina facilities at Mooloolaba
Both events are open to mono hull and multi hull yachts. SCOR will see crews competing in IRC and PHS racing over short and long course races under the direction of an internationally renowned professional race officer. Interest is already strong in both the SCOR and B2SC.
The Brisbane to Sunshine Coast Race and the Sunshine Coast Ocean Regatta will be one of the highlight yacht racing events in southeast Queensland in 2020.
