Dylan Fletcher has unpacked the team’s second consecutive podium performance

Emirates GBR driver Dylan Fletcher has unpacked the team’s second consecutive podium performance after the team came third in Auckland.

Fletcher’s crew finished behind Season 4 champions Spain and triple SailGP champions Australia, which topped off a flawless fleet racing performance with a dominant Final.

It comes after the British finished second behind New Zealand at the season opener in Dubai, which marked Fletcher’s first time driving the F50 since Season 1.

Reflecting on the result, Fletcher said he was ‘obviously disappointed’ to ‘get into the Final again and not be on the top step’, but the team is ‘thinking about the big picture’.

The team qualified for Auckland’s winner-takes-all Final with solid 1-2-9-4-2-4-6 fleet racing results, finishing third overall tied on points with Spain.

Fletcher added: “It was a very tight racecourse and we had some moments – I’m sure everyone did – where we weren’t sure how it was going to go but we managed to get through unscathed and pushed hard in that Final.”

Emirates GBR’s Auckland result means the team moves into the top spot of the 2025 Season leaderboard, tied on points with New Zealand in second. Winners of Auckland, Australia, sit in third.

“We were pushing quite hard and (…) overall I’m really happy with the team’s performance and it’s a long season,” Fletcher said.

Next up, the F50 fleet heads to Sydney for the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix on 8-9 February.
