Expressions of interest open for Three Peaks Race in Tasmania

Within days of the Mersey Yacht Club Inc committee posting the availability of Expressions of Interest on the race website, the first entry was received from Victoria. Multihull Yacht Club of Victoria commodore, and 2011 Three Peaks winner, Charles Meredith will again compete aboard his 48' Chris White catamaran “Peccadillo”.

The revamped running and sailing race will start in Devonport on Friday evening March 6th 2015, a long weekend in both Victoria and Tasmania.

Devonport will provide amenities previously unavailable at the Three Peaks start, including close proximity to air and sea links for families and supporters wishing to holiday in Tasmania in late summer while supporting a team.

The Lions Club of Devonport will be holding their annual wine and food festival over that long weekend, adding another attraction to the start.

Rule changes have encouraged smaller yachts with expansion of the Tilman Trophy points score, enabling boats to 'have a go' regardless of any rating rule. Boats racing to Tasmania in the Christmas – New Year period may well wish to take advantage of the changes and leave their boats in Tasmania for this unique race. For the first time there will be a two-handed division for suitably qualified yachts and crews.

Early bird expressions of interest reserve an entry spot for $50 and enable a deduction of $100 from the full entry price.
