First photos of Vendee Globe sailor Stéphane Le Diraison in Port Phillip Bay

Dismasted in the Southern Ocean, French solo sailor Stéphane Le Diraison has made it to Port Phillip under jury rig. Using his boom as a mast, he has managed to make the journey to a safe port under his own steam.

Here are the first photos of his arrival in Port Phillip, from Neville Rose. Click on the dots above to scroll through the images.

Le Diraison arrived at Pier 35 at 12:00pm. ORCV arranged for Customs to be there when he arrived. News crews and around 50 people, mostly French, were there to greet him.

Neville Rose said Australian Border Patrol (Customs) were very accommodating for an unplanned visit.
