Fremantle Sailing Club wins WA Women’s Keelboat Championship

Congratulations to the Fremantle Sailing Club RAMP Team who won the 2022 Women’s State Keelboat Championship on Saturday March 19, hosted by Royal Perth Yacht Club.

The FSC RAMP Team, skippered by Jess Lundh, won four out of the seven races.

Akamai Race Team from Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club skippered by the young gun Lucy Alderson also had a brilliant journey finishing the State Championship in second place with 13 points followed by Marlee Racing Team (RFBYC) skippered by the legendary Sandy Anderson in third (16 points). This year’s competition also had talented sailors from the Royal Perth Yacht Club, South of Perth Yacht Club, and East Fremantle Yacht Club.

The 2022 Youth State Keelboat Championship took place the following day, Sunday March 20.

It was an exciting race day with Royal Perth Yacht Club Youth Team skippered by Antun Janekovic winning by one point. This is the first time in 27 years of the event that Royal Perth Yacht Club lifts the trophy! Well done to Antun Janekovic, Lawson McAullay, William McAullay, Lachlan Hawkins, Juraj Janekovic, and Ethan McAullay.

The second place and well-deserved silver medal went to Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club skippered by Lucy Alderson. Congratulations to all competitors (South of Perth Yacht Club and East Fremantle Yacht Club).
