Get out on the harbour on Boxing Day for the big race

The Sydney Hobart Yacht Race is on for 2020 and Sydney Harbour will be a great place to be on Boxing Day. Mariner Boating has secured the exclusive charter of the catamaran Constellation and we will have pre-assigned seating for 100 guests at lunch on board. There will be expert commentary to give you an insight to what yacht racing is all about.

At present there are 89 confirmed starters in 4 divisions and while there will be two super maxis at the start line the competition will be hottest in the 55 – 80 foot size range.  There are eight one-design TP52’s entered to start with. Matt Allen will of course be going for his three-peat for the Tatterall Cup in his Ichi Ban. I have raced against Matt in Port Lincoln on a TP 52 and in one race we got all excited because he had to restart having been OCS but he passed us again before we got to the first mark!

Constellation also has an open top deck, which offers a very stable viewing platform with some height as well, which offers another perspective. Aside from the racing  the day out is a wonderful experience with the lunch and spectacle combining in a unique way – on the water. The spectator fleet can be worth watching as well.

The Constellation will leave from Mosman Bay ferry terminal at 10.00 AM (parking is easy there and free) with the return at 4 PM. The price tag is $180 per person including lunch and there is an open bar on the boat. This is higher than usual but numbers are limited by compliance with covid regulations.
