Current world champion Airton Cozzolino came out of the blocks fast at the Cape Verde world cup GKA season opener. Kite-Surf legend Mitu Monteiro and Matchu Lopes suffered small hiccups with early defeats, but won their follow-up heats to advance on Day 1.
Brazilians Pedro Matos, Gabriel Benetton, Artur Morais and Sebastian Ribeiro showed they were a force to be reckoned with as they bossed their heats.
Women’s champion Moona Whyte continued where she left off last year, dominating from the start. Key rivals Capucine Delannoy, Kesiane Rodrigues and Camille Losserand have all upped their wave game and advanced to the Quarter Finals set for Day 2 in Ponta Preta’s legendary ‘right’, with a huge forecast on the cards.
