Viana do Castelo, Portugal — The 2024 ILCA Under 21 World Championship in Viana do Castelo, running from July 1st to 8th, has completed its third day of successful racing. Another day of near-perfect sailing conditions afforded the sailors opportunities to gain in the standings.
The day began on time at 11:45, with the D Flags up for the yellow ILCA 7 and ILCA 6 fleets. Excellent but challenging racing conditions were experienced where the wind was nearly identical to yesterday at 330º, starting at 10 knots and building up to 18 knots by the second race. As the fleets completed scheduled two races, today marked the end of the qualifier series, setting the stage for the finals.
Isaac Schotte has moved up to 4th in the ILCA7 but unfortunately, Jack Eickmeyer had 2 BFDs which has dropped him well outside of the top 10. Meanwhile, in the ILCA6 Evie has dropped a spot to 2nd overall.
