Louis Tilly from NSW takes 2025 Australian WASZP Championship

Report supplied by Sandy Bay Sailing Club

In what was a testing week for all competitors, Louis Tilly from NSW (Boogie Wonderland) has taken the title of 2025 Australian WASZP Champion. A true display of his consistency over the week, Tilly took out 6 of the 8 races as first over the line, and finished the regatta on an impressive net score of 6 points. Followed behind in 2nd place was Victorian Conall Green (Turbo), with a net score of 17, followed closely behind by Nicholas Dunne (The Sting) from QLD on a net score of 19 points. It certainly was tight competition out on the water.

As stated by Class President (and Super Master Australian Champion) Jervis Tilly, it was those who have come out on top that always were able to be at the front of the fleet regardless of the type of conditions, which is a true display of their skill. Racing over the 4 days brought a huge range of conditions, and tested all sailors including the locals.

Divisional winners:

πŸ†1st Female: Bridget Conrad

πŸ†1st Small Rig: Ed Steedman

πŸ†1st Master: Richard Steedman

πŸ†1st Super Master: Jervis Tilly

πŸ†1st Youth: Louis Tilly

πŸ†1st Apprentice: Conall Green

πŸ†1st Junior: Ashton Rawstron

Thankyou to all who were involved in the event. This event had almost the same amount of volunteers each days as competitors, and the effort that that our local, and visiting class volunteers put in was truly amazing. We thankyou so much for your efforts.

A special thankyou to our PRO Ian Ross for getting 8 races in what was truly challenging winds to get a course in, Will Allison from SBSC for his event organisation, and the Derwent Sailing Squadron as always for their support with resourcing. We could not run event like this without you all!
