Maiden to circumnavigate again

Maiden has set off on its next circumnavigation of the planet, aiming to raise awareness and funds for girls’ education, sponsored by DP World.

The yacht, which famously raced with a female crew in the Whitbread Round the World Race skippered by Tracy Edwards, left the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club on her 90,000nm journey, this time skippered by Marie-Claude Kieffer Heys (formerly of Key Yachting in Hamble).

Backed by global logistics leader DP World, the voyage aims to build on the successes of the previous pre-pandemic Maiden ‘World Tour’, engaging with schools, charities, outreach programmes and organisations “that are committed to the education of girls through empowering and inspiring girls around the world and changing the narrative around what a girl can achieve”.
