Nouméa, February 2025 – After the cancellation of the 2024 edition, the New Caledonia Groupama Race is making a strong comeback in 2025, with the start scheduled for June 15. This iconic sailing race, which attracts sailors from across the Pacific, offers a unique opportunity for Australian and New Zealand crews to take on the technical challenges of a spectacular course, set in the heart of the world’s largest lagoon.
AN EXCEPTIONAL RACE IN THE HEART OF THE PACIFIC
Competing crews will set off on a 654-nautical-mile journey around Grande Terre, navigating between reefs, turtles, whales, and islets. This UNESCO World Heritage-listed course provides ideal sailing conditions for those seeking challenges and adventure. The route will take sailors through key strategic points, including Amédée Lighthouse, Cape N’Dua, the Eastern and Western Horns of the Belep Islands, and the «Grand Passage», before returning triumphantly to Nouméa.
A CALL TO AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND CREWS!
Historically, the New Caledonia Groupama Race has always attracted Australian and New Zealand yachts, offering them the perfect stage to showcase their sailing skills. In 2025, organizers aim to further strengthen this dynamic by facilitating the participation of international crews and providing them with an unforgettable experience, both on the water and ashore.
SIMPLIFIED LOGISTICS AND A WARM WELCOME
To encourage the participation of boats from Australia and New Zealand, a dedicated welcome program for foreign crews will be put in place, offering:
- Logistical support for boat transportation
- Simplified port formalities
- An integration program for sailors and their families
A RACE VILLAGE AND FESTIVITIES FOR EVERYONE
Starting from June 13, 2025, the public will be able to enjoy the race village, set up around the CNC sailing base. Exhibitions, entertainment, and meetings with skippers will bring a festive atmosphere to the event. A mini-village will continue the experience from June 16 to 20, featuring daily race updates.
