NSW Cherub States Final Round this Weekend

The final round of the NSW Cherub State Championships for 2022/23 will be held at Port Kembla Sailing Club on the 4th and 5th of March. Please continue reading for all important information.

A Change to Sailing Instructions:

The Cherub Association’s standard yellow inflatable marks will not be used at this coming weekend’s round of the State Championships. Instead, the course will be laid with three orange conical inflatable marks. The start line will be laid with a yellow mark at the pin end and an additional red ‘cherry’ will be laid as a distance mark for the top mark. This will be clarified for all competitors at our Sailor’s briefing on Race Day One at Port Kembla Sailing Club.

A Call Out to Volunteers:

If any supporters are intending to attend this event, please let us know!
We are looking for on water support for one boat on for both Saturday and Sunday’s racing. We’d love to see you there.

Arriving at the Club:

When arriving at this event enter the club via the roundabout on the corner of George Street and Northcliffe Drive. The club is to the left of the boat ramp. All sailors attending this event can drive into the club to unload their boats and gear as required. When complete, please position any trailers along the back fence of the rigging area (adjacent the dirt road) and move to park any cars outside in the parking lot.

Camping at Port Kembla Sailing Club:

Sailors are welcome to camp at Port Kembla Sailing Club overnight on Saturday the 4th of March. Please listen to the advice of volunteers for where you are able to set up upon arrival.

Food and Social Events at Port Kembla Sailing Club:

Note that the club’s canteen will be open throughout the weekend. They have the capacity to receive both contactless payments or cash.

To entice you further:

The famous PKSC hamburgers will be on sale Saturday lunch.
Dinner will be provided on Saturday night which can be paid for at the canteen on Saturday morning. It will consist of rump steaks/sausages/veggie burgers and additional salads and baked potatoes for $25/$18/$18 Please register your interest as soon as possible upon arrival at the club.
Egg and bacon rolls and pod coffee will be on sale Sunday morning, with a sausage sizzle for lunch.
The canteen is well stocked with drinks and has a licenced bar to serve alcohol after sailing and for the dinner Saturday.
We would love you to please support this community club as best as you can. We would encourage everyone to stay for dinner on Saturday night and spend some time with your fellow sailors in the wind down of the season! It is a great opportunity to get together and spin tall tales of the year gone by.

A short presentation to conclude the series will follow racing on Sunday evening before the drive back home. Please stick around to celebrate our champions (…and maybe pick up a prize of your own!).

Thank you, and we are looking forward to seeing you on the water.
