We’re just a few days shy of the much-anticipated PIC Harbour Classic. With an impressive fleet exceeding 40 boats, this relatively new event promises excitement and camaraderie.
If you haven’t secured your spot yet, now is the time. To ensure smooth sailing, we need ample time to organise handicaps and other details.
Whether you’re participating in the race or not, we invite you to partake in the festivities. Join us at the welcome party or prizegiving; everyone is welcome to share in the sailing spirit.
Abit of a run down of the weekend ….
Sailing Instructions
Sailing Instructions will be emailed to all competitors three days out from the event and will also be available to view on our website. In the meantime, you can check out the course (also on our website) and remember – all boats are required to have powered propulsion as you will need to be able to motor right up to the start line.
Berthing Jellicoe Wharf – 8th March 12.30pm – 10th March 12.00noon
Berthing will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Jellicoe/NorthWharf is a “locked area” so competitors will be issued with a gatecode two days out from the event. Check out the map and berthing zones on our website to ensure you don’t end up in the wrong place!
All competitors boats are able to access the marina on Friday 8th March from 12.30pm and need to have departed by Sunday 10th March by12 noon.
A plethora of pontoons have been installed in this area so berthing, safety of boats and weather should mean safe mooring.
You will need FENDERS.
Briefing/Welcome Party – Fri 9 March, 7pm Wynyard Pavilion
We’re having a party the night before! The Wynyard Pavilion Garden bar is where it’s at. Registration will take place at 7pm followed by a briefing and then we are into party mode.
Festivities will wrap up around 11.00pm – then you are free to hit other hot spots within the Wynyard/Viaduct area.
Checkout the Event/Race Itinerary for times and locations
Breakfast will be available from 8.30am at Wynyard Pavilion. And then it’s race time! Starting at 12noon, all boats start on the same starting line from North Head. Check out the course for further information.
Prizegiving – 6.30pm Te Whero Wharf
The Prizegiving ceremony on Te Whero Wharf, Viaduct Harbour, starts at 6:30 pm. Ensure you allow ample time to grab a drink, secure a spot at the front of the stage, and, most importantly, navigate across the Te Whero bridge!
Connecting Wynyard Quarter with Te Wero Island, the bridge may experience delays if a boat needs to pass through.
Here you will find bars and food trucks and we have a band especially for our event post the prizegiving.
While the official festivities will conclude around 8:30 pm to 9:00 pm, the excitement doesn’t end there. Dive into the vibrant atmosphere as numerous bars and restaurants await, offering the perfect post-Prizegiving haven for continued enjoyment, or just party back on your boat, knowing you don’t have get an uber home!
