Coral Sea Marina Resort in the Whitsundays, Queensland has been awarded Platinum accreditation under the Global Gold Anchor Scheme; the highest possible level of Gold Anchor accreditation.
The marina is the first in Queensland to be accredited at this level and, sets a new Australian industry benchmark as a globally significant destination marina on the east coast of Australia.
The Global Gold Anchor Scheme is an industry-based customer service focused accreditation scheme jointly managed by the Marina Industries Association (MIA) and The Yacht Harbours Association (TYHA). There are Gold Anchor accredited marinas in over 25 countries.
Coral Sea Marina Resort (formerly Abell Point Marina) is a 520-berth marina at Arlie Beach in the pristine Whitsunday’s Region 1,100kms north of Brisbane.
The marina resort is a key Queensland tourism destination and springboard for visitors experiencing the Whitsunday Islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
The marina resort has over 20 retail, hospitality and tourism tenants and the newly acquired Coral Sea Resort Hotel has 77 rooms located on the absolute waterfront, all adding to the guest experience.
Coral Sea Marina Resort is a much-awarded business including Major Tourism Attraction (QLD Tourism Awards), Superyacht Business Services Provider of the Year (2017) and the current MIA Marina of the Year (140+berths category).
MIA Chairman Andrew Chapman said, “The International Gold Anchor rating system is designed to facilitate the improvement of industry services and facilities and to provide boat owners and marina users with an easy reference system similar to the accommodation star rating scheme.
“Gold Anchor marinas are independently assessed across 100 elements covering marina services and facilities and the assessment includes direct berth-holder feedback. To be accredited as 5 Gold Anchor Platinum the marina has to achieve an overall score over 95 percent. It is an outstanding achievement by Coral Sea Marina Resort to have achieved this level.”
Paul Darrouzet, owner, Coral Sea Marina Resort said “This achievement has taken an enormous effort and commitment from the whole team in striving for excellence in all areas of our business. The team consistently delivers the highest level of service to our valued guests.
“The continuous validation under the Gold Anchor scheme will keep us at the top of our game and assist in our ongoing quest to deliver memorable experiences that reflect excellence in quality and value.”
A formal presentation will take place at Coral Sea Marina Resort in November, with Colin Bransgrove, CEO, MIA in attendance.
