Police search for missing yachtsman in Mallacoota

Water Police currently searching the water after a yacht was located washed up near Mallacoota this morning.

Crew on an abalone boat spotted the yacht on the rocks around 9.45am and raised the alarm.

It’s believed the boat belongs to a 65-year-old Wodonga man who left Paynesville for Eden on Saturday, however he never arrived at his destination.

At this stage police believe it is unlikely the man is still on the boat.

The Coast Guard, Air Ambulance and SES are also assisting with the search, which also includes the area around Rame Head.

Anyone who sights the missing man is urged to contact triple zero (000) immediately.
