Prada's success is riding on an Australian sheep's back

This coming weekend will see the commencement of the America's Cup challenger series, Prada Cup, final stage, where Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli will face off against Ineos Team UK. The first to win 7 races will then compete in the 36th America’s Cup presented by PRADA, against the Defender, Emirates Team New Zealand.

Australian merino wool has been put to the test through the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team uniform developed, designed and manufactured by Australia's Woolmark. The uniforms herald the emergence of a new breed of natural performance sailing wear. These extreme weather wear garments utilise merino wool to enhance performance and reduce environmental impact.

Wool’s natural properties such as superb breathability, the ability to wick away moisture and superior thermoregulation make
the natural fibre ideal for sailing.

A selection of the official Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team uniforms are available at selected Prada flagship stores, on Prada.com and at the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli store at the America’s Cup Village in Auckland.

The official sailing team Jacket is a three-layer garment that comprises 54% Australian merino wool bonded with a waterproof membrane resistant to 11 water columns, for extreme water resistance and full breathability. The official short-sleeve polo is made of 100% merino wool and is comfortable next to the skin and machine washable. It’s a perfect option for both summer and winter when worn in combination with jumpers and sweatshirts.

The official technical T-shirt includes 36 per cent merino wool: a must-have both in sportswear, thanks to its high breathability and resistance to odours and sweat, and for a casual wardrobe, suitable for any occasion.
