Quantum Sails Australasia has announced it has expanded its support in Queensland by signing on Sail Structures.
With offices in Cairns, Port Douglas and Townsville, Sail Structures will service and support all the North Queensland customers, alongside Quantum Sails Queensland, which will continue to service the rest of Queensland.
Sail Structures was formed in 1998 with a focus on manufacturing yacht sails. They later diversified, using its sailmaking expertise to become a designer, manufacturer and installer of architectural shade sails and tensile membrane fabric structures.
Quantum Australasia MD Carl Crafoord commented, “we are excited to welcome Sail Structures to our team, they bring with them over 25 years industry experience and will be a great asset to the team. They will enable us to service all the North Queensland Clients as well as support Magnetic Island Race Week and all Northern Queensland Events.”
Sail Structures Michael Guinea, who will be the main contact for Quantum in the far north Queensland region, brings with him sailing knowledge in both monohulls and multihulls, with a list of achievements to his name. Michael has a marine background, previously working at Nacra Australia for a number of years. Since 2004, he has managed the Townsville office of Sail Structures and during this time has sailed on many different boats, both off the beach and larger monohulls and multihulls.
Michael has achieved impressive results in off the beach multihull classes including the Formula 18 class and has been victorious at multiple national and state titles, as well as achieving top ten placing’s at world titles including a 2nd place in 2013 at the Nacra F18 Worlds. Michael has also enjoyed many regatta victories on IRC yachts and has recently started crewing on larger multihulls.
