Race winner explains the tough conditions experienced on Day One of the Laser Radial Worlds

Conditions on Day One of the ILCA Laser Radial World Championships were difficult for sailors and race committee alike. Winds that were shifting between 30 and 50 degrees at times caused Blue Fleet's first race to be abandoned at the top mark. Ultimately, Race Director Peter Merritt decreed that only one race could be sailed for each fleet.

The winner of Blue Fleet, Marie Barrue from France, spoke with Jon Emmett about the day and explained the conditions.

The forecast for today (Monday February 24) is for winds from the south, which may allow the race committee to get three races and put the event back on schedule.
