A record fleet of more than 50 yachts are already registered, and the signs are that many more will follow.

This is the 13th staging of the colourful series which will be contested on a number of courses set close to shore at Main Beach and Surfers Paradise. The yachts will also race to a rounding point off the Queensland/New South Wales border.

Sail Paradise holds the added advantage of being staged during the summer school holidays, a fact that sees the entire families sharing in the excitement on the water and the party atmosphere at Southport Yacht Club.

“The series will take a major step forward this year in presentation and participation,” said the Club’s Vice-Commodore of Sail, Drew Jones. “The regatta is now seen as a being a real asset in every sense for the Gold Coast as well is the Yacht Club. It is all about having good times both on the water and on land. Most importantly, everyone involved with Sail Paradise can benefit from the special accommodation deals that are on offer.

“Also of note is the fact that Major Events Gold Coast has worked closely with the club on all aspects of Sail Paradise. This extends to the post-race entertainment each day, a highly popular aspect of Sail Paradise. This year the star attraction post-racing will be none other than Russell Morris!
