Reports claim Indonesia is to ease entry permit procedures

A news item on the Indonesian Antara news site is stating that Indonesia will ease entry permits for foreign yachts.

This is welcome news for the myriad of yachts that visit those cruising waters not far north of Australia. My Sailing ran an article back in 2011 on changes to Indonesias visa rules then, these new rules take it even further.

The aim is for permits to take just two hours and for the visas to last for six months. This will bring the previously bureaucratic country more in line with Malaysia.

The Ministry of Tourism is also approving more marina berths and improving existing facilities.
